Our story

Our family moved to rural Suffolk in 2016 after more than 20 years of living in London. We went to visit Stella Dutchyn’s beautiful Starlite Falabellas and fell in love with the breed.

However, we got our first miniatures from the wonderful Spellbound Stud in Norfolk: a Part Bred American Miniature and a Miniature Shetland Pony. Molly the Mini Shetland was our daughter’s first riding pony and gave her all the confidence a little rider needs.

Someone should have told us then that miniatures are like chocolate… You can’t just stop at one.

Natural keeping

As we settled into our new life in Suffolk, we embraced a philosophy of keeping our horses as close to nature as possible.

We believe in giving preference to natural grazing and shelter. We encourage our horses to walk on different ground surfaces with natural uneven terrain, providing them with access to woodland and shrubs. This allows them to forage as they would in the wild, eating healthy, naturally growing herbs to support their immune systems. We ensure they always have branches to grind their teeth on, access to fresh water, and a salt lick.

Kindra and our first cart

When Kindra, the Varnish Roan British Miniature Horse joined our family, I was inspired to take carriage driving lessons at the famous Swingletree Stables. And so I bought a beautiful little cart. It was an absolute delight to drive Kindra through the picturesque countryside, feeling the gentle rhythm of her trot.

Not only did this activity bring immense joy, but it also kept her fit and healthy.

Pippin and our first foal

As our daughter grew, so did her equestrian needs. We decided to bring home a bigger pony, and that’s when Pippin, a black Shetland and Dartmoor Pony cross, became a part of our lives.

Pippin was gentle yet spirited, perfect for our growing daughter. To our surprise and delight, nine months after she joined us, Pippin gave birth to a beautiful foal, Savannah, marking the beginning of what we lovingly call the Bromelands Babies.

Lilou, our first Falabella

Our first purebred Falabella Lilou (Starlite Cassiopeia) joined us in 2018, and her affectionate nature quickly won us over.

She has since blessed us with several delightful foals, each one embodying her charming character and funny devil ears. With Lilou began our dedicated Falabella breeding program.
